Serbia is also benefitting from intermodal bulk transport

Van den Bosch has successfully converted a number of flows to and from Serbia from road to intermodal bulk transport. Through intensive collaboration with two local parties and the use of silo containers, the logistics service-provider has not only increased efficiency for its customers but also reduced CO2 emissions.

Road transport continues to dominate in large parts of Eastern Europe. Among other things, Van den Bosch is committed to strengthening export capacity to and from Serbia. New opportunities for intermodal transport have been created by collaborating with local partners and

exploiting the potential of available equipment.

"These containers are a game-changer," says Srdjan Zekovic, commercial manager at Van den Bosch. He believes that they represent an important step forward in terms of the logistics possibilities in Eastern Europe. "Using the containers has given us the flexibility to expand in order to meet the growing global demand. Because we provide our partners with intermodal logistics solutions, we streamline the export process. We also enable them to expand their activities. We enable reliable, sustainable and more efficient export routes through intensive collaboration. In doing so, we are stimulating economic growth and international success."

By using containers, Van den Bosch increases the payload per shipment. "Not only

is it efficient, it is also sustainable," Zekovic said. "We are proud to be able to support local businesses and help them reduce their carbon footprint. We are also able to offer our customers greater reliability and cost efficiency. Together, we are paving the way for a better economic and more sustainable future!"

    Jointly investing in sustainable kilometres

Van den Bosch is fully committed to sustainability. One of the steps it is taking in this respect is to use HVO 100, in other words hydrotreated vegetable oil, as an alternative to fossil diesel in road transport. With a view to making this process as efficient and transparent as possible, we are developing a new tool that will allow us to calculate automatically how much HVO is needed per transport - as well as the associated costs, CO savings and certification.
