Our values

  • More intelligence
    through innovation

You don’t innovate by wanting to be smarter than others, you do it by being smarter with others.

  • Driven by
    expertise

Whatever the country, whatever the language, we know our industry inside out.

  • Acceleration
    through ambition

Whoever wants to improve themselves makes progress every day

  • Pleasure
    from passion

Passion is the fuel which takes us, our customers and the world further.

More intelligence through innovation

Van den Bosch knows only one direction: forwards. That’s why we think differently to others. We operate differently from others. We innovate not for innovation’s sake but to make a real difference every day. Not just on paper but in practice. By combining logistical knowledge and experience with the unprecedented possibilities of data, technology and automation, we, our employees and our customers are in a state of constant evolution.

Driven by expertise

At Van den Bosch you will find numerous disciplines. However much individuals stand out in their own field, we all have one thing in common: every one of us is driven by expertise. From driver to planner. From data analyst to customer service specialist. We share our knowledge, we love to learn and we use initiative to reinforce our position as the name in bulk – together.

Acceleration through ambition

Good can be better. Reliable can be more reliable. Green can be greener. Smart can be smarter. Every day we raise the bar. This entrepreneurial attitude has been in our DNA since 1964. To achieve these things, we give employees the room they need, we promote promising developments and we share our knowledge. Yes, we are ambitious and entrepreneurial. And we have an affinity with people, projects and concepts who share that spirit.

Pleasure from passion

We at Van den Bosch all love what we do every day. That’s why we are so proud of our industry and our perspective on it. We’ll never tire of talking about it. Our passion for smart, innovative and sustainable solutions is irresistible. It’s how, together, we guarantee quality. To employees, customers, end-users and society at large.

Our history

  • Ad van den Bosch starts his own business

    1964

Ad van den Bosch starts his own business

Ad van den Bosch laid the foundations for Van den Bosch in 1964. He started from Erp with a single truck. Whereas in the early years Ad mainly transported bagged goods, over the years we have grown into an international transport company specialising in bulk transport.

  • Opening of the garage in Erp

    1971

Opening of the garage in Erp

In 1971, Van den Bosch opened an office and garage at Hoogven in Erp, where we remain to this day. Low loaders, tippers and later silo and tanker trucks were added to the fleet. In the years that followed, Ad increasingly focused on food transport.

  • Our first silo trailer

    1974

    Our first silo trailer

In 1974, the first silo truck was added to the fleet, making the fleet more varied. With the arrival of the first silo wagon, operations expanded to include the transport of lime and chalk.

  • Opening of washing station in Erp

    1975

Opening of washing station in Erp

A few years after buying the business park at Hoogven in Erp in 1971, the company built its own garage and car wash. Later, the car wash was converted into a state-of-the-art tank cleaning station.

  • Our first bulk truck: Truck 53

    1977

Our first bulk truck: Truck 53

Truck 53 was one of Van den Bosch's first bulk trucks and was used for the bulk transport of livestock feed. This Volvo F86-42S3 marks the beginning of a new era, with bulk transport becoming the core business of our company. Truck 53 still forms part of our collection of oldtimers.

  • The 100th Volvo is delivered with a fanfare

    1982

The 100th Volvo is delivered with a fanfare

We welcome the 100th truck to our fleet. A brand new Volvo F10, now better known as 'the 100'. The 100th truck was used for liquid road transport, especially for vegetable and animal fats, chocolate and water. After its solid years of service, the truck was restored and included in the collection of classic cars.

  • Start of the bodyshop in Erp

    1983

Start of the bodyshop in Erp

In order to pay extra attention to developing our equipment and our loading & unloading techniques, we construct a bodyshop in Erp. From this moment on, repairs, modifications and innovations will be carried out in-house.

  • Opening of the tank cleaning facility in Erp

    1986

Opening of the tank cleaning facility in Erp

A brand new, hypermodern tank cleaning station is built opposite the garage. It has six cleaning lanes, enabling us to clean our loading units both inside and out. This cleaning facility will later turn out to be one of the most important pillars of our success. It also fulfils one of Ad’s long-cherished wishes, as all our services are now in-house and we can always have clean equipment on the road.

  • Purchase of the first tank containers

    1987

Purchase of the first tank containers

In 1987, the first tank container was purchased. It was the first time we could take a tank off the wheels; stack the containers. Equipment innovation played a major role in this even then, especially in containers for liquids, which were becoming lighter and larger.

  • Delivery of the 200th Volvo

    1987

    Delivery of the 200th Volvo

We proudly welcomed the 200th Volvo. A wonderful milestone for the company. We made journeys with this truck all over Europe for many years.

  • Opening of the Amsterdam branch

    1990

    Opening of the Amsterdam branch

Until now, Van den Bosch had been known as a carrier of foodstuffs. This changed in 1989 when Van der Graaf Tanktransporten was acquired. This company focuses entirely on chemical transport, so we can we further develop the transport of chemical raw materials.

  • Expansion of the Erp site

    1992

    Expansion of the Erp site

Since acquiring the business park at Hoogven in Erp, we have been constantly in flux. What started with a garage and small office soon expanded because of the organisation's growth. In 1992, a car park and petrol station were added, and the site was again expanded.

  • Our first foreign branch in Salzgitter, Germany

    1994

Our first foreign branch in Salzgitter, Germany

We put down roots abroad for the first time in 1994. A single office unit on the premises of a big customer serves as the base for this pioneering branch in Salzgitter, Germany. Van den Bosch Transporte GmbH starts out here by supporting this customer on-site with tipper shipments. Ultimately, it will prove to be not only the first foreign branch, but also the first step towards on-site logistics.

  • Acquisition of De Meulemeester in Tielt, Belgium

    1996

Acquisition of De Meulemeester in Tielt, Belgium

In Kontich, Belgium, we have had a Belgian branch with transport equipment and employees since the late 1970s. However, a physical location was not yet available. So in 1996, we took over the entire Tielt-based transport company De Meulenmeester.

  • Peter takes over the company from his father Ad

    1998

Peter takes over the company from his father Ad

In 1998 Peter takes over the company from his father Ad. Under Peter’s leadership, the company grows to become an authority in bulk logistics. His growth strategy also entails opening various international branches. The transition from road transport to intermodal bulk transport has been succesfully initiated.

  • Acquisition of Jumbotainers in Rotterdam

    2003

    Acquisition of Jumbotainers in Rotterdam

Our vision of building an intermodal network already exists, but we don’t yet have sufficient in-house knowledge to do so. The acquisition of Jumbotainers changes all this. The Rotterdam tank operator focuses mainly on short-sea activities and manages a fleet of 20ft containers. Through this acquisition, we are able to increase our focus on sustainability and efficiency while strengthening our intermodal strategy. Later on, the Jumbotainers location will become our branch in Europoort.

  • The 500th truck: an American Kenworth

    1998

The 500th truck: an American Kenworth

When Peter took over the company, Ad surprised him with an American Kenworth, now better known as Truck 500. A typical American truck, every driver's dream. Angular, rugged, lots of chrome and over 9 tonnes. The Kenworth was immediately put to work transporting liquids. Now the truck is part of the collection of classic cars.

  • Construction of the new head office in Erp

    2004

Construction of the new head office in Erp

We have been working hard on our business park at Hoogven in Erp since 1971. The foundation stone of our current office building was laid in 2004. The former office units are exchanged for a modern office building, an important milestone in line with our growth strategy. The foundation stone is laid by three generations: Ad, Peter and Simon, who had just been born at the time.

  • England branch opened

    2004

    England branch opened

In 2004, we settled in Bournville, England, with our own location: Van den Bosch Ltd. In order to grow, and especially to bring in knowledge of the local legislation and labour market, UK-based Patterson Tankers was ultimately acquired in 2006: a major player in the transport of liquid foodstuffs. This boosted the organisation and our capacity in England.

  • Acquisition of Silo-Tank in Austria and Hungary

    2006

Acquisition of Silo-Tank in Austria and Hungary

The fleet also expands thanks to the addition of 500 ISO tank containers.

    2015

Expansion of container depot at Europoort

In 2015, Van den Bosch expanded its Technical Services in Europoort with the purchase of the adjacent plot of land. In 2024, Technical Services underwent another renovation.
